Mumbai, March 25: Piped gas is not new to residents of South Mumbai living in old buildings. But supply, which commenced in the 1860s, stopped a century later after the Bombay Gas Company ran into difficulties, especially with increasing traffic. The gas was generated using coal, which was initially imported from Australia and England, but later Indian coal was used. The companys office was at DN Road and factory at Lower Parel. .

Designed to provide good all-round distribution of light, the hand lamp can be set to come on automatically in the event of a mains failure, or it can be controlled manually if preferred. Businesses urged to heed climate
Experts say global businesses have to be more engaged in fighting climate change by following more environmentally friendly practices.
The UN-backed Global Business Summit for the Environment, attended by around 600 business executives and environment experts from 40 countries, opened in Singapore on Thursday. It is considered to be the first major international conference focusing on business and the environment in Asia.
The executive director of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) Achim Steiner said," Climate change is essentially an environmental change that is so all-encompassing at the moment that it touches on every sector in the economy and society."
"If ... companies are going to succeed as global players, they essentially have to also address a global marketplace in which the issue of environmental sustainability is an increasingly important one," Steiner said.
Walls of Whimsy
Courtney Lewis is married to a builder and is the daughter of an interior designer. So when it comes to finding talent to beautify her own home, she knows people. When she and her family moved into a new house in Edwards just over a year ago, Lewis was looking to create a personalized space for each of her three children: Connor, 11, Cole, 5, and Savanah, 2. "I wanted them to feel comfortable," Lewis said. "When kids move, it's such a different environment, so we tried to make it a little more warm." Lewis called decorative painter Pat Fricano-James, who had previously done some work with Lewis' mom. Fricano-James, who used to run her own business but now takes projects on a case-by-case basis, ended up painting everything from birds to bees, stegosauruses to football stadiums, per the little ones' instructions.
