| Lamps wanted to leave
FRANK LAMPARD was left out by England last night then tried to get a plane home only to be told he had to stay with the squad. Lamps wanted to fly back to London for treatment on his fractured wrist. But Three Lions boss Steve McClaren ordered him to stay at the team hotel and jet home with his team-mates after the Andorra game. Angry Lamps felt it was more important to get back as quickly as possible and expressed his view to McClaren but lost the argument. McClaren confirmed just before kick-off that the player was left out due to the injury and insisted he had not been dropped. The England chief added: It was not worth taking the risk. Weve other players who can do the job. Hes accepted it gracefully and is here supporting the team. Lamps, 28, suffered the fracture in a freak training accident on Monday when he blocked a shot from Wayne Rooney.

It was January 2006 when the city of Nacogdoches started installing new antique-style street lamps in the greater downtown area along East Main and West Main streets. Generic Theater pulls off oldies but goodies
Time Passages: 25 Years of Generic Theater Six One-Act Plays summarizes the companys current production at the Players Ring quite nicely. GT opted to present a mix of one-acts for its 25 anniversary, in homage to the early years when the company regularly offered an evening of shorts. And a mix it is, of old and new, short and long, strong and shaky, pro and community. Its summary? A very worthwhile, intriguing affair. All the selections have a touch or full-blown absurd bent. Casts range from a single person to 10. Come and Go felt mere minutes long, while Man in the Mask took up a reasonable chunk of the second half of the evening. The remaining pieces include Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread by David Ives, Adjusting by Jeff Sweet, This is the Rill Speaking by Lanford Wilson and a monologue from Talking With called Lamps by Jayne Martin.
