Honda rocks market with all-new CR-V
AS soon as we saw the assembly square of the newly inaugurated Bonifacio High Street at The Fort Global City Friday night, we expected nothing less than the biggest automotive launch this year. From afar, five giant red lettersH-O-N-D-Amade it clear to the arriving guests as to who owned the venue that evening. They were so prominent youd think the whole complex had been bought by the Japanese carmaker. There was no mistaking the significance of this event. An elegant dining area was laid out near the main stage, which was even more elegant with a full orchestra and an operatic vocalist innovating on U2s Elevation. Impressive. Only the best, of course, for Hondas latest offering, the all-new Comfortable Runabout Vehicle (thats CR-V to the rest of us). Honda could have rolled out the new crossover vehicle to the exquisite harmony of the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra and everyone would have been swept off their feet by the symphonic beauty of the moment.
Army, police installations to sample CFL bulbs
Security installations, including military and police barracks in the country will be the first beneficiaries of a nationwide drive to replace the traditional, energy consuming incandescent bulbs with the energy saving lamps or CFLs. The campaign, initiated by government would see a replacement of some six million onion bulbs used in lighting. Energy experts say the bulbs are highly inefficient, as 95 percent of the electricity they draw is converted to heat with only five percent providing lighting. When implemented, it is believed the country could save at least 200 Megawatts of electricity during peak load periods. The project, according to the Minister of Energy was to have started over the weekend at the military and police barracks and government buildings, however the Energy Commission says it has been unable to implement it because it was yet to secure the permission of the ministries that own those buildings.
Cassini Weekly Report (04142007)
NASA via BBSNews - 2007-04-20 -- The most recent spacecraft telemetry was acquired on Tuesday, April 17, from the Madrid tracking complex. The Cassini spacecraft is in an excellent state of health and all subsystems are operating normally. Information on the present position and speed of the Cassini spacecraft may be found on the "Present Position" web page. Wednesday, April 11 (DOY 101): The official input port occurred today as part of the S32 Science Operations Plan Update process. A Sequence Change Request (SCR) approval meeting was also held for S31. Fourteen SCRs were approved at this meeting. No major issues are expected with incorporating them into the sequence. Cassini's magnetometer team has concluded that a leak in a helium lamp in one of two detectors on the magnetometer caused the loss of one of the detectors--the vector scalar helium detector-- after nearly nine years of flawless operations.
