Lady of the lamp
She may not have had the powers of the genie in Aladdin's lamp, but the "dancing" lady in Elizabeth Gerner's hanging lamp was certainly magical to Gerner's grandson. When he was 5, the boy would sit mesmerized as oil flowed through thin tubes surrounding the lady in the lamp to give the impression that she was dancing. Gerner's grandson, now 19, may no longer carry a torch for the lady, but the lamp is still a fixture in her Albertson living room. Gerner, 78 and a retired elementary school secretary, recently shed some light on the lamp with Newsday writer Daniel Bubbeo:

New CTS An LED Orgy
Lights have been a part of the Cadillac heritage from the days of the Eldorado — hey, it had something going for it, right? Now GM is hoping that LED lighting will make the new CTS seem even more suave and sophisticated, inside and out. Fifteen LED lamps, along with several so-called “light pipes" direct cool white light to various parts of the interior, while outside, a single LED illuminates an acrylic bar that remains lit whenever the CTS is running. “Why should these features stand out only during the day?" asked Caddy's product chief, John Howell.
