| Spring business is blooming
And for a name like Gensler, which dates back about 30 years on a 300-acre Davis Junction farm, it was time to try something new. Kristin Gensler, part of the second generation of Gensler owners, knew that a second location needed to reflect the changes in the garden industry. She envisioned a fresh look, strategy and, mostly, location. Davis is more rural, dont have many neighbors out there. Theres so many people in the Rockford area that have never heard of Gensler, but we wanted to get our name out there more, she said. Gensler Gardens, 102 Orth Road, is behind new condos and near several subdivisions. Indoor Sports Center can be seen in the distance. With 12,000 square feet of retail and 25,000 square feet of greenhouses, it plans to position itself as a main retail center and cafe for that neighborhood.

Want to control global warming? Say no to the bulb
Pune, April 16: If you thought aerosols and deforestation are the only factors that cause global warming, you may want to re-think on that. The ordinary light bulb in your home is also a contributor, points out environmental organisation Greenpeace that has launched a nationwide campaign to Ban the Bulb as part of their larger initiative for energy efficiency. The aim is to encourage consumers to switch to energy efficient Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL) instead of ordinary incandescent light bulbs. .
Bulb collection for small businesses
In order to help small businesses properly recycle their used fluorescent lamps (fluorescent bulbs or tubes) this year, there will be a used fluorescent lamp collection held on Tuesday, May 8, from 9 a.m. to 1p.m. These collection events will be held in the parking lot of the Scott County Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility. The Scott County HHW Facility is located at 588 Country Trail E. (Highway 282), a half-mile west of the intersection of County Road 17 and Highways 13 and 282. While business waste cannot be brought to the Scott County HHW Facility itself, the HHW parking lot will be used for these business bulb collection events due to its central location within the county. Businesses will once again be charged low rates for the disposal of their various items. Go to the Scott County Web page for more information on rates and items: www.co.scott.mn.us (then click on Small Business Fluorescent Lamp Collection Coming May 8th located under the heading “What's New in Scott County").
Transforming a basement into a multipurpose room
Eager for more elbow room, Tina, Kulbir and their two children moved from the city to the suburbs. They renovated most of the rooms in their big, new house with ease, but they were stumped when they got to their basement. Both self-professed computer geeks, Tina and Kulbir wanted the room turned into an efficient home office space. They also wanted it to function on several other levels: as a rehearsal space for budding musician Kulbir and his bandmates; as sleeping quarters for overnight guests; and as a TV and lounge area. So, I geared up to make this room all things to all people -- and add some function and style along the way. Taking a cue from Kulbir's background and the couple's exotic and colorful wedding photos, I decided to design this space with an Indian-inspired theme.
