| Police investigate baby's death
Cops last night were investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a six-month-old infant. The child was pronounced dead yesterday afternoon by a medical examiner at Peter Lougheed hospital. Insp. Guy Slater said the medical examiner raised questions about the infant's death. "The medical examiner was initially involved at the hospital so we're responding to that initial question to see what else may or may not have happened," said Slater. Police were maintaining a presence at a duplex on Raynard Cres. S.E. beginning at around 3 p.m., although they were not treating the home as a crime scene. 2 die in separate road accidents
A 21 year Navua man is dead after the vehicle he was travelling in hit a lamp post in Veiwawa feeder road at 5:30 this morning. Divisional Media Liaison Officer Southern Lavenia Lovodua confirms that the 21 year old was a passenger is a company vehicle when the driver lost control and hit a FEA power pole. The 26 year old driver is in police custody and is expected to be charged soon. In a separate accident, a 24 year old self employed man from Vatualailai in Ba died this morning in an accident at Yalalevu in Ba. Lovodua confirms that the incident happened at 11pm when a ten wheeler truck travelling towards Lautoka from Ba tried to overtake a van and had a head on collision with a carrier driven by the deceased. The carrier was dragged into a drain by the impact. Other passengers were treated and sent home.
Drug Bust Yields Marijuana & Mushrooms
Police in Hokah, Minnesota raided a drug house and found sixty marijuana plants, psychedelic mushrooms and growing materials.27-year-old Matthew Sheehan from Hokah is charged with six counts of selling and possessing drugs. Investigators searched Sheehan's home Thursday and found the drugs, heat lamps, potting soil, fertilizers, a safe with cash and other drug-dealing supplies. Investigators say he lives just 300 feet away from an elementary school and city park. He faces several years in prison and thousands of dollars in fines. .
