SANYO Projectors Used in Theatrical Screening of Canadian Film
CONCORD, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - April 19, 2007) - SANYO Canada has provided two digital projectors for the theatrical debut of the Canadian movie Crossing, starting on April 20 at the Carlton in Toronto and the Fifth Avenue in Vancouver. SANYO manufactures 2K digital projectors specifically designed for cinematic use such as the PLV-HD2000N and PLV-HD150. The director of Crossing, Roger Larry, chose the SANYO PLC-XF46N for the theatrical debut. It features three large 1.8 inch, 1024 by 768 pixel LCDs to produce up to 12,000 lumens, with four UHP lamps producing 300 watts each. The XF46 can automatically switch to a long-life, low power, "failsafe" mode whenever a single lamp defect is detected. The use of low power, low cost UHP lamps results in overall running costs about half that of other systems in the same high brightness class.
NR staffer wins regional photography honor
Bronson's published photos beat out those of photographers from The Oregonian, The Seattle Times, The Anchorage Daily News, The Register-Guard, The Olympian and numerous others. Bronson, who started with The News-Review in March 1999, had compiled enough points to be in the region's Top 10 three times before, but he never had made it this close to the top. "It's nice to know people know you can do good work," he said. Bronson learned of his top finish in an e-mail while on vacation in Cambodia. A fellow photojournalist from The Seattle Times alerted him to the news. He was visiting former N-R photographer Jerry Redfern and his wife, Karen Coates. Bronson said the Graffiti photo and a photo of 4-H kids playing cards on the back of a cow lying in hay had received a lot of positive feedback from colleagues.
DVD Review: Jorge Cervantes' Ultimate Grow DVD
Jorge Cervantes is to marijuana cultivation what Martha Stewart is to home decorating. In the last thirty years, Cervantes' fascination with cannabis has led him around the world, discovering wisdom about the medicinal plant for five books, a monthly column for High Times magazine, and dozens of DVDs. His 1983 publication, Indoor Marijuana Cultivation, is now in its fifth edition, and his Marijuana Horticulture: The Indoor/Outdoor Medical Grower’s Bible sold 50,000 copies last year and was recently translated into Dutch, French, and German.Much of Cervantes’ acquired wisdom appears in Ultimate Grow DVD, which is a beginner’s guide to starting a successful marijuana ‘grow room’. Chapters in the DVD include: Growroom Construction, Air and Circulation, Lights Lamps and Electricity, Cloning, flowering, harvest, and hash making.
